ACCURACK is a patented method and device for precision rack focusing. It is designed to attach to most ENG/EFP Fujinon, Canon and Angenieux broadcast video camera lenses. ACCURACK is a thin, flexible, plastic band, 7 inches long and ½ inch wide. The ACCURACK band wraps around the focus ring of the camera lens and is tightened with a velcro strap. Setting the sliding Focus Brakes, located on the track of the ACCURACK band, makes perfect rack focus stops.
A metal, stationary arm, called the ACCURACK Brake Catch, is attached to the servo control screw holes and extends over the focus ring of the lens body and across the path of the ACCURACK track. The Brake Catch is available in three sizes. The EF 1 Brake Catch fits most Canon and Fujinon external focus lenses. The IF 1 fits most Fujinon internal focus lenses and the IF 2 fits most Canon internal focus lenses. See list below.

HOW IT WORKS

With the ACCURACK method, setting one or both of the Focus Brakes easily accomplishes precision rack focusing. The left or nearest Focus Brake on the track sets the focus stop for the near object. The right or furthest Focus Brake sets the focus stop for the far object.

To set a rack focus stop, simply move the focus ring until you are focused on the desired near or far object. Hold your focus in place by firmly pressing your right hand thumb against the focus ring. Using your left hand, slide the appropriate Focus Brake until it meets the Brake Catch. Tighten down the thumbscrew on the Focus Brake to lock and set the focus stop. A second focus stop can be set by moving the focus ring to a new location and repeating the procedure with the opposite Focus Brake. Within seconds, what was a difficult and time-consuming camera move is now an effortless rack focus, that guarantees precise back and forth movement between near and far objects.

ACCURACK is manually operated. The device is entirely mechanical and does not encumber space on the focus ring. ACCURACK can remain attached to your lens when you are not rack focusing. Simply slide the focus brakes away from each other to opposite ends of the track and lock down.

ATTACHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Attach the Brake Catch arm to the lens barrel with the enclosed screws. Use the holes for the remote servo control.

Once the Brake Catch is securely fastened to the lens, set your focus to 0. Position yourself behind the camera. Drape the ACCURACK band over the top of your camera lens and under the Brake Catch. The velcro strap should hang on the left or near side (the viewfinder side) of the lens.

Holding the focus at 0, slide the ACCURACK band clockwise until the left focus Brake is almost, but not touching the Brake Catch. Pull the velcro strap through the loop on the other end of the ACURACK band. Tighten just enough for a loose fit so that you can move the band around the lens for slight adjustments. For the best placement, make sure the distance between the left Focus Brake and Brake Catch when in the 0 focus position is the same as the distance between the right Focus Brake and the Brake Catch when in the infinite focus position. This will allow you to focus freely between 0 and infinite without any interference from the Focus Brakes.

Once you have the proper placement, securely tighten the velcro strap and you are ready to rack focus. When you are rack focusing, use your left hand to move the focus ring to the desired rack focus stop. Use your right hand thumb to hold the focus ring in place while using your left hand to move and set the ACCURACK Focus Brakes.
